That should have been what the whole trilogy was about, not just the last episode. It was a mess.

Well, I don't feel like I should have to defend the original trilogy.
And really, your views of him are a good example for just how wrong the new trilogy handled him. It should have been about him teaching a new generation of Jedi along with Leia. Instead, he drinks blue milk straight from the udder and throws his lightsaber over his shoulder.... Wtf.
